In “Psycho,” Wendy Shay tackles the emotional realities of toxic relationships. The song is a rallying cry for anyone who has felt trapped or undervalued, particularly women navigating manipulative and controlling partners.

Lyrically, “Psycho” dives into the emotional complexities of dealing with a manipulative partner.  Shay labels this person a “narcissist” and expresses her determination to walk away. Lines like “This year I’m not taking your nonsense” and “I’m not that girl you used to know, see me stronger” embody a defiant rejection of negativity and a commitment to self-respect. While the chorus boldly encourages to prioritise self-love.
