S’akawe is the first of 6 songs from the forthcoming Tosin Martins EP – Under The Influence, a comeback effort by the celebrated artiste after a long break. It is an unusual afrocentric live recorded gospel piece, with the full complement of live instrumentations, performed by a collective of some of the best musicians Nigeria can boast of.
The song is an eclectic fusion of familiar genres (highlife, afro, ballad and CCM), with very compelling poly-rhythms and a sweet melody to move even the most stern of enthusiasts. Recorded in Lagos, and produced by Dara Akapo (@official_daramagic) and Tosin Martins, with additional production contributions from master guitarist Nsikak Okon and renowned audio engineer/producer – Edward Sunday.
S’akawe is an ode to the supremacy of God as the first and ultimate creative/creator. The song suggestively admonishes listeners, to take God’s perfect execution of all we see in the material world, as a pointer to what masterpiece He can potentially make of the life of anyone who entrust themselves to Him, through faith in Christ.
